“There is no age boundation to become a scientist” — Vivaswan Hebalkar

Bhopal: 26 September 2025

At the Vigyan Bharti Mela, an interactive session titled ‘Navachar Sangam’ was organised, where Vigyan Bharti’s chief Vivaswan Hebalkar addressed students from various schools and colleges. The session, ignited curiosity and scientific spirit, began with Hebalkar encouraging students to share their life experiences where they had contributed something meaningful.

He then interacted with participants about the challenges and real-life problems that inspired their science projects, which had been displayed earlier in the ‘Maha Pradarshan’ (Exhibition). Stressing that “there are no constraints in scientific research,” Hebalkar highlighted that language, age, or background should never be seen as barriers in the pursuit of science.

Hebalkar emphasized the importance of developing technology rooted in India’s needs and conditions. Drawing a comparison with traditional Indian homes built of wood and mud that stayed cool in summers and warm in winters, he explained how such designs reflected a natural scientific approach suited to local climates. “We must move away from a colonised mindset and adopt solutions that are relevant and beneficial for our society,” he remarked, underlining the need for innovative scientific thinking.
